Maryland Resident Influenza Tracking Survey

Welcome

Welcome to the new on-line version of the Maryland Resident Influenza Tracking Survey (MRITS). MRITS is a system designed to measure influenza-like illness (ILI) in Maryland based on illness reported directly by residents each week. While most influenza surveillance systems rely heavily on information submitted by health care providers, MRITS allows those who might not contact their provider to offer complementary information to estimate the level of flu activity in the State.

The survey is open year-round. Please visit our influenza surveillance and epidemiology page at https://phpa.health.maryland.gov/influenza/fluwatch/Pages/index.aspx to read the latest news on influenza activity.

IMPORTANT!

It is very important that you answer the survey each week for yourself and your household members EVEN IF YOU HAD NO SYMPTOMS. Why? If only those people with symptoms respond each week, then the percent of people who are sick will be artificially inflated to 100%. If everyone responds, then we can break down the number sick divided by the total number of responses. This gives us the best picture of what is going on in the community with regards to flu-like illness.
